Incoming Students

New students at York can take specially designed courses to develop the critical thinking, reading, and writing skills essential for academic success. For arts students, these are known as Foundations Courses and for students in the sciences, they are called First Year University Seminars. Both offer small tutorial classes to encourage contact with professors and classmates.

Career Planning

Students have the support of a super Career Centre, which assists in career searches, resume writing, interview techniques, and career fairs. Regular workshops and networking breakfasts have students succeeding in their jobs during their time as a student and in securing careers upon graduation.

Sports

York's varsity sports teams for men and women compete at the provincial and national university level. Students who are not interested in elite level athletics can participate in our recreational sports leagues, which range from competitive to 'just for fun.' For the fitness enthusiast, we offer aerobics, cross training, and martial arts classes.
